The uncertainty of the formation of the Residents Welfare Association body of DLF2 for the next term continues yet again.
After the debacle of events, as shared in our last issue, RWA elections scheduled earlier in August 2024 were withheld due to petitions filed by a few residents. An administrator, K.S. Yadav was appointed by the District Registrar, Firms & Societies, Gurugram, to review the memberships and hold the elections.
Yadav has been doing all needful and called for a new round of elections on 27 Oct 2024.
The fresh lot of nominations were smoothly filed in early October, and the final list was released on 22 Oct with 31 candidates contesting for various office-bearer positions and executive team.
In the interim, though, a few residents further filed petitions with the Registrar to review the validity of the memberships held by the residents and questioned the list once again.
Calling a hearing on the petitions, the District Registrar, Firms & Societies, issued orders on 25 Oct in response to the petition filed by Madan Lal & others to once again keep the elections in abeyance.
The Administrator, K.S.Yadav has been directed to conduct an inquiry into the eligibility of memberships of the RWA as per Byelaws and HRRS Act/Rules.
Subsequent to this order, all households that have multiple persons as members may receive notices to produce documentation. Hereon, membership will be allowed to only sole/ joint property owners for a single registered address on the production of property ownership documents or any other valid reason.
This process of validations and restarting the process of elections may again take a few months and continue to keep the RWA body defunct.
In the absence of an active RWA, residents of DLF2 continue to face challenges when it comes to reaching out to various public agencies for their day-to-day issues of sanitation, horticulture, or maintenance in the colony.
