Residents Breathe a Sigh of Relief as Clogged Drains are Cleared
The Sector 30 residents recently faced a familiar challenge: clogged drains causing minor flooding on the roads. While not a catastrophic situation, the issue still posed a nuisance and a potential health risk. Fortunately, the RWA sprang into action, ensuring that the problem was addressed promptly.
One resident, whose home is situated near the affected area, revealed that he had lodged complaints with the authorities, but to no avail. However, after the RWA intervened, the drains were quickly cleared using a suction machine, bringing relief to the residents.
As the weather transitions from winter to spring, the shedding of old leaves from trees is expected to pose a new challenge. These dry leaves, combined with plastic waste like polythene bags, cups, and thermocol items, can clog the drains and cause water accumulation. This, in turn, can lead to the breeding of disease-carrying mosquitoes, putting residents at risk of contracting illnesses like dengue and chikungunya.
The timely clearing of drains serves as a reminder of the importance of proactive maintenance. By addressing these issues promptly, residents can avoid more severe consequences and ensure a healthier, more pleasant living environment. As the old adage goes, “A stitch in time saves nine.
