Rumours Abound That Mahavir Mandir Is Slowly Being Taken Over to Develop Its Real Estate

Clarification by Management Would Restore Confidence

The Iconic Shree Mahavir Ji Mandir or Pahari Wala Mandir is the Land Mark of GK-I atop the Serene Hillock, giving it the added Spiritual Aura. Though there are a few other small Temples
in GK-1, but Mahavir Temple has a special significance as it is the only one that has the wherewithal to hold large congregations, with ample Parking.

Unnoticed, seemingly innocuous changes have been initiated that have passed off as Management issues. Residents of GK-1 were surprised when as usual they approached the Management to book the Sabha Hall for a Function and were denied citing Closure of such facilities. It was then noticed that over time the Management had sent packing the small Sweet Shop and Banquet Operator and all the Local Members of the Management edged out, replacing them with outsiders.

Putting Two & Two together a larger design seems to be taking shape, a few years ago Samvada had carried an article informing how the Eight Acre Central Park, earlier known as Dusshera Ground, now Atal Park was leased out to a DLF Family Trust. Alarmed a Group of 12-15 eminent members of Society along with Office Bearers of GKRA and Market Association held a meeting with the Management of Mahavir Mandir chaired by Poonam Singh, on behalf of the Trust.

In the meeting Mrs Singh tried to placate the concerns of residents and informed that there are no changes planned, the refusal for booking is temporarily for renovation purposes and to build a Gita Bhavan. She was informed that rumours have it that Prime Land under Mahavir Temple may be sold to Summer Field School, which was earlier under the same trust before being sold to KR Manglam Foundation.

The delegation of Residents demanded that stake holders like GKRA & Market Association Presidents along with a few eminent residents be inducted in the Management and no decision be taken that may destroy the Serenity of the Greens, replaced with Concrete Structure on the Green Lungs right in the middle of the colony. Mrs. Singh agreed to the suggestion of inducting Stakeholders and that no decisions be taken to change the Landscape and the Booking for Holding Functions be restored immediately.

A week on it was noticed that a New Board has been affixed with a Change in name from Mahavir Mandir to Hanuman Ji Mandir. Funnily on being asked about the change, it was informed that people often mistook Mahavir Mandir with a Jain Temple therefore the change. Some people may wonder what’s in a Name……. A lot if it can lead to Controlling Real Estate attached to the Name.
