Holi festivities were meticulously organised and celebrated with great enthusiasm and excitement at the front Lawn of Saket Dham apartments. The long awaited Holi utsav activities started from March 24 itself with Holika Dahan celebrations. During the day, ladies of the society performed their individual poojas and made offerings around a heap of dry wood logs at the central place of society premises and in the evening, holy fire was lit after group pooja ceremony and with chanting of mantras by pandit ji. Although there was light rain during the celebrations, it could not dampen the spirit of residents. The residents took parikarma of the holy fire and offered prayers as a tradition. They greeted each other “Happy Holi” with gulal tika on their foreheads. Green wheat buds and green grams (chholia) were also roasted in the holy fire as a symbol of change of season and were distributed as prasada. Variety of snacks like gol gappe, aloo tikki, pav bhaji, besan chilla, kulcha chhole and kaanji etc. were served on this occasion to one and all.
Next day morning on March 25, Holi theme songs were played on the audio system to set the tone and ambience to welcome the residents for joining the celebrations. The residents assembled in no time at the venue to participate in the Holi-Milan festivities. They celebrated Holi by smearing multi-coloured gulals & hugging each other. The entire environment all-around was full of mauj and masti. Residents danced to the popular Holi theme tunes and punjabi songs adding thrill to the celebrations. Ladies and children looked enthusiastic and danced in the scorching sun lending greater charm to the colourful event. Assorted pakodas and thandai were liberally served during the celebrations. The festivities concluded with a serving of tempting and finger licking lunch.
