The roads around 7X sec tors especially around sector 78 have always been a point of concern, be it the dug up road shoulders or potholes on roads. But one major is sue that was plaguing the residents for a long time was the condition of the road beside the drain and under the metro line and the sector 101 metro station. This stretch of road has been lying broken, riddled with potholes since the last four to five years. Using the stretch of road used to be a nightmare for commuters. Also owing to the fact that this road has a large open drain just beside it with practically no fencing or crash barrier made matters worse. There was always a chance of a mishap and a few minor accidents have also taken place at the said spot. Two wheeler riders and cyclists were the most affected and during the night things used to get worse. Also the construction work for the Bhangel elevated road is going on causing inconvenience to commuters and residents living along the Dadri road, which is dug up from the sector 49/48 intersection to sector 82 T-point and hence rendering it unusable. Due to this the road along the drain has witnessed unprecedented vehicular movement as it is the only option left for commuters to reach areas like phase II and Surajpur. In the past the residents of sector 78 and 7X sectors have sent many complaints to the Noida Authority but no action was taken. Another technical point that delayed the solution was that due the road being next to a drain which is technically an irrigation canal, it also fell under the irrigation department and hence started the game of shuffling of responsibility between the irrigation department and the Noida Authority.
But now finally the residents can breathe a sigh of relief as the repair and resurfacing of the said road has started. The residents say that it is their years of hard work and numerous complaints to higher authorities through varied channels that has got the ball rolling. The residents are hopeful that the work will be completed soon and the road can be used without any fear of mishap. They also demand that the safety barrier that is broken at many places be repaired. The residents would also like to question the concerned department that even after paying hefty sums of money to buy houses in an upscale sector like 78, why do they have to run from pillar to post for years to get something that should have been there in the first place.
