Recently we heard the talk of mobile tower being erected on the roof of C- 638 in residential complex of Sushant Lok, on 20th of September, the aware residents in time made a complaint that said that the owner of C-638, Mr. Dhillon, without taking permission from any civic body, nearby residents or RWA, gave consent to Jio mobile tower to get erected on his property; which was going to harm the climate and the community together. All the residents joined forces, framed a petition and met with the president of RWA Mr. Vishnu Khanna and General Secretary, Mr. Deepak Verma; who in turn supported them and gave assurance that all measures will be taken to get the problem eradicated. Mr. Verma gave instructions to the security that the further work should not proceed and even interrogated the owner, for the matter, of the building used for the mobile tower.
True to their word, on 22ndof the September, they refused the Jio staff to carry on with their work and saved the environment thus. Although there are many others that have operated thus and there are mobile towers on their roof, the concerned residents are troubled but see no respite in near future too. This brings us back to the question “Science Boon or Bane!” We do need the connectivity, but we can’t have the mobile towers in the residential area and on goes the battle…
