Residents‘ Expectations from the Newly Elected GK-2 RWA

The present RWA team has won a historic third term in the recent elections. None can deny that this was a very keenly fought and eagerly observed election that ended in a nail biting finish. Both teams were very well prepared and made several promises in their Election Manifesto. We randomly selected a cross section of residents to understand their expectations from the newly elected RWA team. We are sharing their responses as under.

Suman Arora: There are many areas that need urgent focus in our colony. The most important ones include regular Cleaning of roads and back lanes and regular pruning of trees.

Ashok Gulati: I expect our RWA to fix issues concerning the Builders activities, sanitation and cleanliness, traffic management and providing GK2 residents with a Club of their own. In addition, parking for the colony residents in the M Block Marker should be made free for a certain time period.

Ramina Kumar: I would like the incoming RWA to reclaim our footpaths and pavements. We need to get rid of the encroachments at the earliest. This is for both the squatters on the Public land and the residents who have made gardens outside their houses.

We also need a strict code of conduct for the builders and they need to compensate us residents by contributing to our colony fund which should be used for making our colony clean green and safe

Anil Bansal: Prime expectations of senior citizens from the newly elected team are sanitation, cleaning of back lanes, safety and security, and controlling builder activities.

Nivedita Gupta: With the RWA elections over and this being the third term for the current incumbents, I reckon they won’t need much time to settle in and should be ready(eager) to tackle various issues plaguing the colony. Here is my list not necessarily in order of priority- pruning of trees specially from the top so that being top heavy they don’t keep getting uprooted, desilting of storm drains as the rains are only 2 months away, remove encroachments by residents and reclaim the sidewalks for pedestrians, get builders to deposit money with RWA for cleaning up back lanes afterwards and not to use back lanes for bathing cooking etc. also adherence to strict timings for construction work, coordinate with Market Traders Association to get the corridors levelled similar to GK1 market or at least proper steps between levels, no parking of motorcycles in the corridors.

Varun Kalra: I expect RWA to help in re-carpeting of all those roads that are in bad shape, cleaning of roads and back lanes should be done on a regular basis, the number of security cameras and guards should be increased to enhance the colony security. Also, boom barriers must be installed at all strategic locations and to establish mechanism to resolve residents‘ grievances on an urgent basis
