Literacy on LPG gas is an issue among urban residents. Most are usually unaware of how much gas they should be getting. And gas agency suppliers or their delivery boys use this fact to their benefit and steal gas from the cylinders.
One such incident happened in DLF Phase 2 where the delivery agents tried to deliver a half-empty cylinder. The DLF-2 resident held it in her hand and felt it was lighter than usual, she complained and weighed the cylinder on their weighing scale which showed the regular 30 kg weight. But the resident wasn’t assured, she said she’ll get her weighing machine.
The minute she said that they took the cylinder back saying it was leaking and got her another cylinder which was full.
This is a regular practice here, we have to be cautious while taking the cylinder and always should check the weight before accepting it. Their weighing scale could be rigged so never trust their machines. A good quality weighing scale is a must. And for people who don’t know, an Empty cylinder weighs around 14.8kg and a filled cylinder will be approx 29.6 kgs. Residents beware and be prepared.
