Recently, two very unusual cases of safety problems have surfaced in Phase 2.
The first is that a lady recently permitted an unknown gardener inside her home and onto her roof to provide estimates for a terrace garden. The gardener gave her an estimate, got an advance on it, and hasn’t been traceable since.
It is often necessary to allow people into your home, but it is also critical to recognise and realise that allowing strangers into your home can quickly place you in an unsafe or compromised situation. Even if the task is temporary, it is usually a good idea to check the IDs of any such workers you hire.
Another incident in which residents felt their safety was jeopardised occurred at a property in K Block, where the lady who lives there was harassed all day by someone ringing her doorbell only to rush away every time she came to the door. This happened several times until the lady decided to take her security into her own hands and install cameras to be more aware and watchful of what was going on around her property.
There have been several incidents as a result of which recommendations have been made for all homes to have basic surveillance set up outside their homes to stay vigilant, and also so that such issues do not occur, but if they do, they can be escalated to the authorities with proper proof of the same.
