Addressing the colony’s woes officially
The Managing Committee has often been criticized for over focussing on the Club and neglecting the Society’s issues. At least, on this count, they redeemed themselves in October when some of them met the MCD Commissioner Mr. Gyanesh Bharti with a list of our woes, submitted in a letter dated 11th October 2023.
The issues included rampant commercialization, illegal construction and encroachment by residents of the JJ cluster adjoining S block, miscellaneous repairs and maintenance pending for long, ongoing horticulture cleanliness and menace created by pigs & monkeys, to name some.
The matter was passed on to the Deputy Commissioner, South Zone, Dr. Ms. Angel Chauhan, who agreed to visit Panchshila Park on 18th October 2023 for an on-the-spot meeting with the residents and an inspection of select areas in the colony.
The meeting was organized in the Mother Dairy park at 9 am on 18th instant. Appx 35 residents from Panchshila Park and Sadhana Enclave were in attendance, led by the MC President, Mr. Rajesh Chopra, Acting Chairperson of the Colony Affairs Subcommittee Mr Pankaj Vats, Ms. Ragini Mathur and Ms. Sharmila Sood, members of the MC.
The DC addressed the group, committing swift action, took a round of N and E block and passed on instructions to the accompanying entourage of MCD officials.
To her credit, work began on removing some of the encroachments the same evening. The work was continuing as the time of going to press.
We hope that the colony receives its due management attention and action by the government officials and some of the chronic issues are addressed speedily.
We also hope that the Managing Committee will maintain relentless pressure and follow up on the raised issues to bring them to fruition.
