Republic Day holds an important place in India as it was on the day that the Constitution of India was adopted in 1950 – the day we became a Secular, Socialist, Democratic Republic – was celebrated with pride and enthusiasm on 26th January by the RWA at the Club lawns. The event began with the hoisting of the national flag by our Vice President Swati Gaur, accompanied by our chief guest SP Baglaji in the presence of committee members and residents. Everybody joined in the singing of our national anthem to pay tribute to our motherland.
The Club lawn was decorated with balloons and ribbons in the colours of the tricolour, bringing the whole place alive with the spirit of patriotism. Many also wore tri-coloured clothes to mark the occasion.
The cultural program began with a Fancy Dress competition for young children. Young participants dressed as Subhash Chand Bose, Hanumanji, and Spider-Man enthralled the audience.
Then there were races for all age groups, including the ladies and men of our Sector. There was a flat race for young children, a Spoon & Lemon race for teenagers, balancing of books and a three-legged race for the seniors. Everyone participated wholeheartedly making the races and the afternoon a huge success. Some races were held multiple times to accommodate all the participants. Prizes were awarded for first, second and third positions.
Meanwhile, there was tea/coffee and a ‘Thela’ serving guavas and mooli which more than 300 residents relished. The scrumptious lunch included mouth-watering delicacies like moong daal chila, pav bhaji and bedmi poori/ aloo, not to miss everyone’s favourite gajar ka halwa.
The committee appreciates the efforts of Shruti Misra, Swati Gaur, Vandana Shukla, Deepa Bansal, Madhu Gupta and Meghna Jindal for volunteering to make the races and participation a huge success. Last but not least, a big shout out to Rajesh Khanna, Secretary RWA and Ghanshyam Gupta, member RWA and Secretary Club for being the backbone of the event.
