Plastic recycling is an essential procedure for managing plastics. It helps to reduce the amount of new plastic material being introduced into the environment by using what’s already there.
Bharat Soka Gakkai ( BSG) has organised this plastic recycling drive in Delhi-NCR as a pilot to be able to run this campaign across India.
More than 1500 societies/districts are part of BSG in Delhi-NCR, all of which are participating in this drive. Rupsshaa at Princeton has voluntarily taken up responsibilities to ensure the success of the campaign in recycling 25 tonnes of plastic waste all over Delhi- NCR with the help of Bisleri (under their ‘Bottles for Change’ initiative) and Blue Planet Asia.
The campaign is part of the BSG for SDG initiative aimed towards 2030, committed to fulfilling ‘Sustainable Development Goals’ for India through ‘sustainable human behaviour’ and ‘human revolution’. They are enabling organisations to turn plastics into valuable energy, extract minerals from e-waste, process industrial waste into reusable products etc.
Rupsshaa and her team have enthusiastically started the drive at Princeton. Suman Vohra, Achla Anand, Saumya Gohain of Princeton along with other BSG members, help Rupsshaa in this mega drive of recycling plastics. To achieve this project, a group was formed on WhatsApp, instructing each member to collect, clean and store plastics in their respective houses. Each member would collect at least 1 kg of plastics over 1 month and the same would be collected by a van to carry out the process for recycling them. This is an effort to keep our environment green and clean.
There are about 35 members in the group and to spread the awareness of recycling plastics further, Rupsshaa had also allotted two more days for general residents at Princeton to bring out their plastics and deposit the same at the ground floor lobby in their respective towers on 29 and 30 September, so that the collection agents would collect them. The collection of plastics from the WhatsApp group members was planned to be carried out between the 2nd to 9th of October.
We would resolve to recycle plastics, which enable us to live in a greener environment. May Rupsshaa and her team members attain success in educating and spreading awareness and reaching new heights in their endeavours.
