Books are full of knowledge; they take you to a different world. They are the best companions and friends for life.
The first edition of ‘Daryaganj’ organized by Meghdutam Rangmanch at Meghdutam Park in Sector 50 in early December 2022 was a great initiative! Book enthusiasts of all ages participated in the event making it a success. The event was organized to encourage readers to share, exchange, loan and give away used books.
The event was a delight for book lovers as it not only allowed them to display their preloved books but at the same time inculcating values of sharing knowledge with others.
While we are increasingly surrounded by all things tech and digital, it was heart-warming to see young readers along with their parents enthusiastically participating in the event. The eagerness of setting up your once favourite books on the amphitheatre steps under the winter sun was clearly seen on the young faces. Moreover, the happiness of finding preloved, treasured books was indeed a very enriching experience.
Digital world has plenty of information but books are the fountain of knowledge. It becomes our responsibility to encourage reading habits among younger generations. I wish that we experience more of such editions of ‘Daryaganj’ as a way of bonding over shared love of reading.
And a treasure of books is still waiting to find new readers wanting to explore the sea of knowledge.
