Ram Vihar Veterans’ Get Together

There was yet another grand get together for Ram Vihar residents. Veterans with spouses and single ladies attended the party on Friday, 31 March’23 in our Club.

This was indeed a big gathering with 52 guests where some children and grandchildren also joined.

The party kicked off at sharp 7.30 p.m. Guests were quite punctual and came in their best formal attire. One could see the excitement on every one’s face as they entered and exchanged greetings with each other.

Col S. Kochar on behalf of the organizing committee welcomed all. He made a special mention of the new members and some ladies, who in spite of observing fast and having medical issues attended the party. Col Kochar with his humorous ‘shero shayari’ made the introduction very lively and interesting.

The party day coincided with our senior veteran Brig. Atray’s Birthday. The evening began with a cake cutting ceremony. The birthday song was sung and pictures and videos were taken. Piping hot vegetarian and non vegetarian starters with soft / hard drinks were served. Navaratras got over just a day before, so men especially were seen enjoying non vegetarian snacks with drinks.

Thereafter yours truly (C-001) and Sabarjeet Sharma (F-522) took over the show. They conducted a pairing and a team game which made the guests moving and mixing around. There was lots of chaos and noise ‘Halla Gulla’ but all in the right spirit. These were innovative games in which all participated and also enjoyed very much.

How could the party be complete without a house of Tambola. There were very good dividends. Whatever cash was collected was all distributed in prizes.

Enthusiastic and talented singers entertained all with songs and ghazals. Our senior most lady Veena Khanna, (D-615) distributed the prizes to the winners and also gave gifts to the singers and the ladies who conducted the games.

Vote of thanks was given by Col A. Varma (C -001), where a special mention was given about the huge gathering. He also said that if veterans’ children / grandchildren wish to join such a get together, they are most welcome.

After this all proceeded for dinner. Delicious continental food was served. The dessert was ice cream and the birthday cake which without doubt was everyone’s favourite.
