In a heartwarming celebration of Raksha Bandhan, Bachpanshala, led by Ms. Nandita Chopra from J Block, hosted a vibrant rakhi-making workshop for underprivileged children in DLF Phase 2. The event took place on August 15 and 16, drawing in 70 enthusiastic participants divided into two batches: children aged 4-12 on the 15th and those aged 13-16 on the 16th.
The workshop was brought to life with the help of older volunteers, aged 14-16, who assisted the younger children in creating beautiful rakhis. Emphasising sustainability, the workshop provided all materials, including recycled cardboard, paper, beads, ribbons, and various shaped cut-outs. This eco-friendly approach not only nurtured creativity but also promoted environmental consciousness.
A volunteer specialising in arts and crafts judged the event, awarding pencil boxes to the top three rakhi designs. The joy on the children’s faces as they tied their handmade rakhis to their siblings during the festival was priceless, the smiles and joy of the participants made the workshop a resounding success.
In the days leading up to Raksha Bandhan, Ms. Seema Bahl of L Block in DLF Phase 2 hosted a delightful eco-friendly rakhi-making workshop. Held at her residence on August 8th, the event embraced sustainability, completely avoiding plastic and focusing on home-based materials. Children aged 3-13 years, along with their mothers, crafted rakhis using wooden butterflies, crochet ornaments, and organic flowers. The workshop, attended by not only children but also moms showcased creativity while promoting environmental consciousness.
Her passion for creativity and innovative approach to workshops made the session a hit, blending fun with learning. The vibrant creations reflected the joy and engagement of the participants, and the emphasis on eco-friendly practices resonated well with the community. This workshop not only celebrated Rakhi but also fostered a sense of environmental responsibility among young learners and their families, making this workshop a cherished prelude to the festival.
