Rajni Yadav –Our Trekking Advocate

When we think about calmness, mountains often come to our mind. Mountains have always been an integral part of Indian culture and history whether as Lord Shiva’s home or as barriers protecting us from northern invaders.

Mountains and their majesty are things no one can deny but the only ones who are able to experience it are the ones who go trekking. One such person is Ms Rajni Yadav (T38-304) who goes trekking to appreciate nature’s beauty.

Ms Yadav has visited multiple base camps; her current highest climb is 5,400 meters (Everest Base Camp)! She recently completed the Annapurna Base Camp trek (4,130 meters).”I’m now preparing for 6,100 meters climb.”

Something Ms Yadav truly believes in is that treks are something that can be done by children and parents alike; it imparts important teachings as trekking requires hikers to get over obstacles at every step which is definitely something people can use in their daily life.

As a solo traveller, Ms Yadav has learnt a lot from her treks. “I wholeheartedly believe it is important to take a break from the city hustle bustle.” For her, the outlet to connect with herself is the mountain.

Ms Yadav mentioned that in Nepal, where the most famous climbs are situated, the locals’ livelihood is dependent on the hikers’ patronage. “So, we do our best to keep the trails clean and use resources efficiently due to their lack on such high altitudes.”

Ms Yadav herself has gone on cleaning drives in Uttarakhand to restore trails back to their natural beauty.

Ms Yadav has met many people from around the globe. “I frequently trek with Americans and Koreans.” This experience of meeting new people from all over the world helps improve perspective.

Trekking is a beautiful sport which allows people to connect with nature. “I sincerely believe that children, through the help of special programs, should explore trekking as an activity they can pursue in the future.”

Ms Yadav’s journey as a trekking enthusiast is truly inspiring and has many anecdotes that we can learn from.
