Raj Bansal (72) Winner of the Prestigious Swimming Championship

Raj Bansal ji, 72, wife of Naresh Bansal (VP-SCWA) brings glory to our Colony.

In a fitting display of resilience and determination, Raj Bansal, a 72-year-old resident of Vasant Kunj, has emerged victorious in the recently concluded 19th National Masters swimming championship held at Mangaluru. Defying stereotypes around age!

The championship, held on Nov 24-26, brought together more than 1,000 swimmers from across 24 states of India to compete in various categories.

Raj Bansal won three medals: 2 silver medals in the 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle and 1 bronze medal in 400m freestyle. It is commendable that Raj achieved this fete after surgery of both knees, which makes the achievement even more remarkable.

Earlier, Raj Bansal won Gold Medals Twice in Delhi State Swimming Competition.

Having started swimming at a young age, Raj has always had a passion for the water. ”I’ve always loved swimming, and I believe it’s the secret to stay fit and healthy, regardless of age,” Raj shared after the victory. “It’s never too late to pursue your passions, and I hope my journey inspires others to follow their dreams”. Raj credits the win to her husband and children, who have supported her in following her passion and to her friends, who have always stood by her and cheered her during her practice sessions.

Local swimming enthusiasts, as well as Raj’s friends and family, turned out to support and celebrate this extraordinary achievement. Raj was also honoured by President, Zile Singh of the Senior Citizen Welfare Association of Vasant Kunj.

Raj now serves as a living testament to the benefits of maintaining an active lifestyle and pursuing one’s passions.

The community is buzzing with pride, and Raj has become a local hero, especially among fellow senior citizens looking for inspiration to lead an active and fulfilling life.
