Heavy rainfall accompanied by high-speed winds uprooted several trees and damaged electricity poles in DLF 1 areas on the morning of 25 July 2024. Day-to-day life was affected as a result of the falling of the an electric pole, as several residents had to bear the brunt of prolonged power outages lasting over 6 hours and the road blockage.
Such situations must be taken very seriously, as they can prove quite fatal. The pole fell in an area where cars are usually parked. It is advised that regular maintenance be made mandatory during the monsoon to avoid such risky fallouts.
A lot of cases of serious injuries and deaths have come to light due to electrocution, and it is advised to stay away from electric poles and open wires during the rain. Children must avoid playing near waterlogged parks and electricity installations.
