Radha Ashtami, is a holy festival that marks the birth anniversary of Radharani. According to traditional belief, when Lord Vishnu took ‘avatar’ as Krishna, Goddess Laxmi appeared as ‘Radharani’,Radha is Lord Krishna’s consort and holds great significance in Hindu mythology. It is observed on the eighth day (ashtami) of the bright (waxing) half of the lunar month of Bhadrapada (August – September). The devotees worship Radharani with a great deal of enthusiasm and devotion. In the morning Abhishek of Radharani is to be performed.
Bindu & Varun celebrated the festival of Radha Ashtmi on Sat, 23 Sep at Shri Mahavir ji Mandir (Pahari Wala Mandir) GK -1. Sitting arrangement was split in two parts. One live performance at Radha Kanhaji courtyard and another at Durga Ma Darbaar with giant screen was giving it a feel-good impression. Flowery Decor was mind blowing. Radha and Kanhaji idoIs were decorated beautifully with flowers.
There was Bhajan Sankirtan by Nidhi Sahil from 6:30 PM onwards. She started with Ganesh Vandana and the devotees were singing and dancing to the hymns of Radha Kanhaji with her. In between Frootis & chocolates were distributed. Each and every devotee received Rs 50 each as Badhai. The whole ambiance was full of holy fragrant. By 9.30PM Aarti followed by Prashad where lots of fruit and sweets were distributed.
Any kind of Puja and worship is incomplete without Prasadam, the Satvik, sacred food offered. As Prasad Aloo sabzi, Yellow Daal, Shahi Paneer. Chhole, Dahi Bara, Naan, Puri, Khasta Roti, Pulav, Papadam, Ras Malai, Gulab Jamun, Cold drinks were served.
This way the festival that glorifies Radharani is rejoiced by devotees who graced the occasion and seek the blessings of the Almighty Radha and Kanhaji.
