It was a dual celebration on the 26th of January- 74th Republic Day and Basant Panchami. It was a foggy and windy morning but residents braved the elements to celebrate the national festival. The area in front of the Community Centre was decked with flags, balloons and flowers.
The flag was unfurled by the Treasurer Mr. Rakesh Sood, as the President Mr. Gulshan Sharma had to go out of town for some personal reason. The National Anthem was sung with great feeling.
A team of our security guards formed the marching contingent. They put on a good show, having practised for many days, unmindful of the chilly mornings.
Mrs. Malti Sawhney, head of the Cultural Committee, was indisposed so the proceedings on stage were looked after by Anita Sood, a member of the Cultural Committee.
Patriotic songs were sung by the residents Sanjeev Aggarwal, Priyambi, Sunil Chaturvedi, Snehi and Chetan. They were very much appreciated and were warmly applauded.
Tea and refreshments were served after the event.
