On the sunny morning of 26 January, our Eldeco community gathered to celebrate Republic Day. From early hours, patriotic songs filled the air and thereby creating a festive atmosphere. Residents assembled near the Clubhouse at 10 am to join the celebrations.
The highlight of the morning was at 10.30 am when Mr. Batra, a respected super-senior citizen, unfurled the national flag. This was followed by the national anthem, a moment of unity and pride for everyone present. Senior citizens were honoured with tricolour stoles, recognizing their valued presence in our community.
After the flag hoisting, the president delivered a speech highlighting the importance of patriotism and promising to work for the society. The cultural program that followed showcased the diverse talents within our community.
Sangeeta Goel volunteered to anchor the program and introduced an instrumental orchestra prepared under her guidance. Participants Anjali Jaitly, Anaisha Goel, Reyansh Goel, Amogh and Aayush Tuli delivered a wonderful musical performance.
A unique program where our young chefs Aadhyan, Kiara, Vijaya Jetly, Shaurya, Sara, Manvi, Arvi and Rewaan, dressed in their chef aprons and caps prepared a ‘Love Soup’ with the ingredients of patriotism, affection, kindness, compassion, consideration, sympathy, generosity, thoughtfulness, trust, and care. The most important ingredient added at the end, without which the Love Soup wasn’t tasting good, was truthfulness.
Anay Bedi presented some teachings of Mahatma Gandhi followed by a short poem in Hindi. Small kids taught us a big lesson.
The program progressed with a Kathak dance performance showcasing our cultural heritage by Eshani, Nimisha, Arya, and Zhilmil, who mesmerised the audience with their graceful movements. The super energetic Bhangra performance on the song “Rang de Basanti” by Adhrit, Aadhyan, Abeer, Sriram, Jerry and Kiaan, brought immense joy and celebration to all. Each participant received a small gift as a token of appreciation along with the refreshment boxes for everyone present at the event including the support staff.
The festivities concluded with a March Past by the guards of our society, proudly voicing patriotic slogans. This celebration was a heartfelt tribute to our nation and its values, reinforcing our community bonds.
“As we celebrate our Republic, let us commit to truthfulness, the cornerstone of a just and free society.”
