More than 1750 Families of Commonwealth Games Flats of Kaveri, Ganga and Yamuna Apartment are using this road for entry and exit access into apartment. With the help of musclemen and contractors, Construction of brick wall covering green belt is done in much haste in past few days, while DDA’s Land Management Department has been unresponsive to queries asked by Quick Response Team of DDA about the status of land.
Due to this work, immediate impact has been on the residents of a nearby JJ cluster whose approach road has been blocked. There are close to 15000 residents in this cluster.
Construction of Brick wall continued even on 04-DEC and 05-DEC despite CPCB order of ban of construction under GRAP pollution guidelines. Few Small trees have been cut which had come in the way of the wall, on which MCD is keeping silent. A slow and organised damage to environment and nature can now easily be done by the Encroacher, as all the green belt along with plants and trees has been covered behind the 8 feet wall.
Aggrieved by the lackadaisical approach of helpless governance of national capital, and the power play being displayed by an influential businessman, residents of these localities are looking at an alarming loss of green cover, access roads, public utilities, already built and planned by urban planning authority on this land. However, Vasant Kunj is determined to fight it out to preserve their rights, nature and confidence in the Indian Government.
