Long-awaited monsoon stepped in and made the pre-existent green Princeton to be more beautiful. Morning walkers enjoyed not only the chirruping and squeaking of parrots and koels but the presence of beautiful peahens walking on their sides, without the fear of having come to a new environment. The monsoon made it a familiar place for them to walk through! The peahens were found more in numbers hopping on the top of parked cars, on the meadows, and on the parapets making the whole residential colony a speck of beauty. Probably the peahens were in search of the dancing peacocks as monsoon is the marked mating season for peacocks. They constantly visited several times this rainy season for almost a week to 10 days and were found joyfully walking on the pathways along with residents. Fortunately, waterlogging did not disturb Princetonites during these unusual heavy rains in the past weeks. In a nutshell, the monsoon invited beauty and charm to our community and the residents thoroughly enjoyed the appearance of our national bird in close quarters from the middle of July onwards, just stepping outside their homes.
