Pride of India -Aditya L1 Mission to the Sun

Popularizing Astronomy and Space Science in the Sectors

Indian scientists have added another feather in its cap by sending Aditya L1 mission to the Sun. The Aditya-L1 mission, launching on September 2 , will take India into an elite group of na-tions that have sent probes to study the Sun. While India has carried out experiments to study the Sun using satellites earlier, Aditya-L1, which aims to park a spacecraft in the ‘L1’ spot in space  is the country’s first dedicated solar mission.

All these years, India has been observing the Sun using only ground-based telescopes, which have grown old now. As India lacked a large-scale modern observational facility, we were dependent on other sources for solar data. Aditya-L1 presents a unique opportunity to not only address the existing gaps but also complement with newer data to address the unsolved problems in solar physics.

The possibilities are endless and potential untapped with the more research on the Sun atmosphere can unravel more truths for the welfare of mankind including climate change and environment protection.

On September 2 ,RWA 39 in celebrated the launch of ISRO Mission Aditya-L-1 in collaboration with an organistion related to astronomy at D block park. FONRWA President Yogendra Sharma was the chief guest in the program.

Avani Patwa (CEO of the organization), Anita Mandal , Priyesh and other  team members Ashok Khanna (president RWA 39) , Rahul Nayyer (VP RWA 39), T.S Arora (Joint secretary RWA 39), Sandeep Malhotra, yours truly and other members and residents, kids, underprivileged kids etc participated in the program. The objective of the program focused on popularizing astronomy and space science while promoting scientific mindset among the people. Sector residents, children and under privileged kids flew hydro rockets and watched the sun and solar observation through a telescope. A quiz competition was also organized with the children. All participants learned how to make comets and weighing scales of other planets.

We all celebrated the success of our scientists. Program ended with high tea.
