Presidential Candidates For The Forthcoming Society Elections

At the time of going to the press, there are two contenders for the office of the president, Govt. Servants Co-Operative Society Ltd., Vasant Vihar – Deepak Mishra and Suresh Goel. Both the contenders are the residents of A Block.

Deepak Mishra is the former Director General of Police and recipient of President’s Medal while in service. On the other hand, Suresh Goel is former President, VVWA and an active social worker. Deepak Mishra has announced his team and Election manifesto for the forthcoming Society election on 18th February 2024 whereas Suresh Goel has yet to announce his team and Election manifesto.

We had a chat with Deepak Mishra regarding various matters pertaining to our colony. This is what he said:

Excerpts:

His motivation behind standing for the election: By the grace of God, the city of Delhi gave me the reputation of a dedicated public servant. The essence of being a civil servant is to be serving Society at large. And now I want to dedicate the remaining productive years of my life to the welfare of the community, which now revolves in and around Vasant Vihar.

His views on Society and VVWA relationship: Both must work together in synergy and in harmony with each other to overcome the challenges. Any cross purpose will be suicidal for both.

The colony is facing numerous problems. In the current scenario what can Society do?

Everyone in a colony/ Community should take equal responsibility and participate in the activities that lead to enhancing the quality of life. My team shall work with VVWA to overcome the problems jointly along with the support from the residents.

Participation of today’s generation in the decision making:

Today’s generation is our future. We will adopt all proactive measures to understand and elicit their expectations through various interactive methods.

Should there be any age restriction on standing for Society elections or the number of times one can hold office?

There should be no restriction. Members are elected through the democratic process.
