Sector-50 is affected by the presence of dogs and pet poop on roadside. Every day we also hear the cases of dog biting in our sector specially by street dogs present in almost all lanes. In few cases, pet dogs have also attacked and injured people including children and elderly.
Also noticeable is the non-cooperating and not-so-cordial behavior of pet owners, who just walk away with their dog after defecation and don’t collect the poop despite knowing the Rules and Regulations issued by Noida Authority from time to time. Might be because of no dustbins placed on roadside to dispose of any garbage or trash, the residents are compelled to walk on road as they are not able to use roadside with filth and dog poops.
As per Noida Authority Pet Policy guidelines issued from time to time, every pet owner is required to get their pet registered with Noida Authority with photo and valid vaccination certificate. The registration can be done through the app Noida Authority Pet Registration (NAPR). Further the pet owner is solely responsible for cleaning the place after their dogs ease out. There is a legal recourse against violators. A provision of imposing a penalty of Rs. 500, 2000, 5000 and 10,000 for various violations is also mentioned in the Noida Authority’s pet policy.
The role of Residents Welfare Association (RWA), which is primarily meant for the welfare of residents, cannot be ruled out to ensure the execution of pet policy. RWA should ensure that sector pets are registered with Noida Authority. If pet-owners are not able to register due to any reason, RWA should come forward and take initiative to have all pets registered and manage the issue of keeping pets and people live together with love, affection and care.
RWA can constitute a committee comprising pet owners and non-pet owners which may take up registration process. The committee may collect some amount from all pet owners either one-time payment or monthly or yearly basis to put dustbins at appropriate location exclusively for disposal of pet poop and getting these dustbins cleaned at regular interval. Thereafter all pet owners may be asked to dispose the pet poop in those bins only. This will not only serve the purpose by maintaining the roadside clean but also bring harmony among pet owners and non-pet owners.
Details of all pets shared to all pet owners will help in case of need. The data will also assist in tracing the owner of the missing pet dogs in case they are lost.
