Is Anyone Listening??

There are many problems arising out of a limited duration of water supply. It is not just installation of booster motors of competing horse power, many flat owners re-move the float valves meant to avoid water overflow. They are unmindful of both wastage and difficulty for people to wade thru accumulated water! From time to time, some unforgiving neighbours take up the issue but are met with retorts like ‘Tainu Kee, we are paying the bill’.
The local RWA took pains to run campaigns in the past to educate the people. So did the Delhi Jal Board but it all seem to have fallen on deaf ears? Only DJB has the power to intervene and take punitive action, but it is seldom resorted to!
However, there are people who spend money on providing automatic start/stop systems or level indicators in the water tanks. Some have also installed master control valves to prevent excessive use of water by the domestic helps! Most use water in buckets for cleaning of cars. Fortunately one doesn’t see many using piped water for this purpose, in our colony.
As often pointed out, our planet is finding it difficult to fulfill ‘need’, then how could it cater to ‘greed’! Let everyone; therefore, make a voluntary effort to conserve water! Habitual offenders must, however, face a penal action like disconnection by the DJB!
