As in the previous years, a big celebration was planned in the park for the benefit and convenience of our respected ladies of the block.
Information for the same was submitted in the MCD office with due acknowledgement having been received on 14 Sept. A delegation consisting of our CC member ladies also met the Dy Commissioner on the same day and invited her to be the chief gust for our functions planned on 2 Oct and 12 Oct.
Due intimation was given to the local SO also.
Our function of ‘Ram Lila’, for which information had been given in the letter dtd 14 Sept, was celebrated on 2 Oct in the park, with great religious fervor and attended by more than 250 residents. SHO Ajit Kumar was the chief guest and performed the Aarti of Lord Ram. There was no objection ever from MCD to this Ram Lila.
On 12 Oct, the preparations were going on in full swing, when a team headed by the SO, horticulture, landed with a tractor trolley & advised to curtail down the activities, as some disgruntled elements had lodged a complaint. These few complaints disregarded the convenience of our ladies and just out of frustration took this extreme step.
Anyway, the instructions of the SO were followed and the function was held with great pomp and show. Twenty-five Mehndi artists were engaged, who continued from 4 pm till 12 pm at night. More than five hundred ladies of the block & nearby blocks took advantage of the fabulous arrangements.
For the entertainment of our ladies, ‘Dandiya’ performance by a professional troupe was arranged. There was a live singer, also who entertained the residents with his melodious songs till 10 pm.
To top it all, complimentary dinner of Cholle bhature and hot Gulab jamuns was served to more than 350 member residents.
Espresso coffee was served to all those present till the conclusion of the programme.
Saurabh Bhardwaj along with his team members graced the occasion, with his presence for more than 45 minutes and wished the ladies a happy Karva Chauth.
Hundreds of massive functions were held in South Delhi Parks, during Oct 22. It was disheartening to note that a selective targeting was done by MCD on receipt of Complaints from some jilted residents who probably fail to realize that they are harming the interests of fellow residents by lodging frivolous complaints with Police & MCD, causing unnecessary harassment to RWA, Police & MCD officials, in addition to vitiating the atmosphere & festivities.
The moot question is, what such people gain by showing this Mephistopheles attitude except losing their own creditably in the eyes of residents!!!!! Or it is just an ego fight or an attitude showing some magisterially??? Hope good sense prevails and such incidents are not repeated.
