Karva Chauth is a festival of love and sacrifice and ladies celebrate it with full enthusiasm. This time WECA arranged Mehandi, bangles and other cosmetics stalls at W3 park on the 30th and 31st of October and ladies availed this opportunity.
On 1st November was the actual Pooja day when ladies fasted the whole day even without water. To distract their mind from hunger and thirst, an entertainment programme was arranged by some ladies. A big group of ladies gathered at W 3 Park, at 12 noon. As they entered the park, as a symbol of blessings, a red bindi was put on their forehead. After a warm welcome, the programme started. After the first game, which was arranged by Pinky, Tambola began with a different twist, and Sonia of W2 A was announced as Karva’s queen. Monica and Vaishali were the winners of the first game. One more very interesting game was arranged by Renu Jain.
Prizes were given to prize winners and after that youngsters started dancing and the atmosphere was full of laughter and happiness.
Evening Pooja started at 5 pm on the ground of W 1 park. Ladies, dressed up like a bride wearing heavy jewellery, gathered there to perform their Pooja. After the Pooja they wished each other and returned home, waiting for the moon.
