Prateeksha -A Voice For The Neglected

When Prateeksha Suri (Tower-1) moved to Malibu Towne after her marriage in 2019, her journey into caring for strays had already begun.

Having grown up seeing her grandfather and great grandfather feed the hungry strays, she too followed in their footsteps. But it wasn’t until her pet dog Wiffy, whom she got in 2015, came along and paved the way for her foray into the world of animal welfare. She learnt the importance of adopting a stray and the difference it makes, not just to the animal but also towards making the surroundings safer for everyone.

The first official rescue happened in Malibu. Of a Mother dog and her 7 pups that lived across the Park Hospital. Seeing them die one after the other, she decided to take the remaining 4 puppies in and give them a safe life. It was an epiphany moment for her as she grasped the urgent need for sterilization of the strays and started with the ABC (Animal Birth Control) program. She had found her mission in life; to become a voice of the neglected and voiceless.

A copywriter by profession, Prateeksha spends all her income on caring for the strays. Feeding, Sterilizing and getting them treated in times of sickness and accidents, she leaves no stone unturned in giving them a life of dignity and making it more bearable for these poor creatures.
To take her mission forward, two years ago, Prateeksha started her NGO called “The Indian Dogma”. Through the NGO, she feeds, sterilizes, treats and helps the strays find the love and care of home & family. Having helped hundreds of animals in desperate need of food, medicine and shelter, she continues to relentlessly pursue her mission, sometimes, despite the brickbats. Animal rescue might be a thankless job but certainly not without rewards. And Prateeksha gets hers in the happy and enthusiastic greetings of the four-legged residents of the society when they spot her. Or the delightful pictures of love and pampering of the rescues in their forever homes.

Find the stories of many such “Happy Endings” on her Social Media accounts. Follow “The Indian Dogma” on Instagram and allow your hearts to soak up the warmth of some furry sights.
