Very often people dispose of leftover food, discarded idols, old flowers from the mandir and other puja accoutrements at the foot of a pipal tree trunk. We can try feeding the leftover food to stray animals and may think of using eco friendly idols that can be buried in the ground. The irony is that we do not remember our duties as citizens but are quick to blame the authorities and the government for mismanagement.
