We had an extremely wonderful and highly participative interaction with our new SHO, Inspector Sanjay Sharma, along with his team of 11 members, at DCA’s A Block Club. It was a humongous crowd of residents, and the Crystal Hall was bursting at its seams. The session was scheduled for half an hour, but due to the very absorbing policing discussion, it stretched to approximately one and a half hours.
Residents from all blocks of My Colony, Our Pride, attended in numbers and raised important security concerns. Topics discussed interalia included colony security, park-related safety issues, training for colony guards in emergencies, servant verification, senior citizens’ safety, beggars’ nuisance/ menace at the market, training residents in CPR, and other emergent situations. The SHO impromptu addressed many of these concerns on the spot and noted others for future action.
PN Aggarwal, former special police commissioner, contributed significantly to the discussion, offering valuable insights based on his extensive experience in law enforcement.
From the RWA side, the emphasis was on the importance of fostering a cooperative and friendly relationship between the residents and the police thereby getting the best service for our residents.
The SHO was very open and shared his contact number along with those of his team members who were personally present. These personnel would be responsible for addressing block-wise issues. These contact details will be shared with all residents shortly.
Harjit Kaur Bawa, chairperson, Senior Citizen Forum, also put forward certain issues related to elderly residents and was assured by the SHO that these will be duly taken care of.
Sushil Bagga , Devinder Singh, Col. N. K. Malhotra , N.K. Bhasin, Sumeet Chugh , Mandeep Singh, Sameer Dev Kapoor, Brig Kukreja, Brig Bhatia and Seema Kandhari, along with other residents of the colony were the attendees who actively participated in the discussions. Harsh Bansal (Vice President) and Rakesh Juneja (Security Incharge and HJS) put forward the issues faced in the day- to- day working of the security of the colony.
With over 90 residents in attendance, this initiative by our RWA was a tremendous success, ensuring the welfare and safety of our colony.
We look forward to more such interactive sessions in the future and towards making our colony more secure. In one word of our interaction with the SHO, it was the general belief of the residents that he is very warm, affable, upright, and always available for service. So be it.
