Phoolon Ki Holi

Sunday, 5 March saw a touch of Vrindavan right here in our eclectic Hamlet. The ISKCON Group brought forth much joy, music, and regalia with them to celebrate Phoolon Ki Holi with us.

The Clubhouse was decorated beautifully with flowers and balloons and had the Radha Krishna Murtis placed on a decorated table amidst beautiful settings and tons of flowers. Hamletians sat transfixed as they listened to the Kirtans being belted out by the troupe who sang endlessly without tiring. They seemed to be in a trance as they sang Krishna bhajans melodiously.

We didn’t even realize how time flew by, but before we knew it, the members were throwing bushels of flowers that included the most colourful roses, Genda Phool, daisies and so many gorgeous varieties up into the air.

It was like a meteoric shower but with thousands of flowers and petals, and for once, no one minded it. The music got headier, people were dancing exuberantly, just like at the ISKCON temples on Janmashtami night.

Women, men, and children alike were trying to match steps with the very nimble footed ISKCON members who were dancing in gaiety.

The music, singing and dancing continued till lunch was announced. The lunch was a splendid one where volunteers served delicious Satvik food that comprised a scrumptious Dal Makhani, Shahi Paneer, Chhole-Puri, Aloo Gobhi, Naan, Roti, and a melt-in-the-mouth Halwa.

There was food for everyone, and people thoroughly relished the same.

A brilliant morning so beautifully organized by Hamlet’s very amazing and efficient Cultural Committee in association with ISKCON. It warmed everyone’s hearts, and we eagerly look forward to many more such events!
