The incident was about three weeks ago. The, dhoban, press wali, was furiously attacked by a pet dog, when she just tried to enter a house to collect clothes for ironing as her usual practice. To her bad luck, the dog was not leashed & tied. It came running out & pounced upon her, tearing apart her leg, leaving one big wound & many scratches. The dog could only be taken away from her by the owner on hearing her cries. In the tussle, the father of the dog owner also fell on the ground. Her husband, who was on rest that day, was called to accompany her to Safdarajang Hospital for treatment. They gave her one injection & prescribed some painkillers & other medicines. Thereafter, the injections are being given by Dr. Ranju Barnwal. The press wali suffered a loss in her business as she was immobile for at least 10 days, besides spending Rs 1500/- on her medication as per her statement. Initial payments, of course, were made by the dog owner. The purpose of giving the story is that the dog owners should not leave the dogs untied if the main door is left open. Also, the main doors should be locked with a warning plate displayed at the gate like “Beware of dogs”.

This article is an eyeopener for pet parents..Initially I owned five of these fur babies but with passage of time I am left with only one….the little one is a beagle who also gets nasty with the garbage guy and seems he wants to rip him apart…I thought he was too small to attack but seeing this article it is an alarm call and we must leash them while entertaining strangers home…
