Happiness coach and practising counselling psychologist, Mr. Satish Kaushik is a resident of D block Suncity. He is the founder and trustee of Rajbala Foundation, a national level NGO that has been working in the field of healthcare and education since the year 2010. This article delves into more about Satish ji, Rajbala Foundation and some happiness and well-being tips he has to offer for our readers.
Personal life and Suncity
Psychology is not the field Satish ji was initially involved with, he has worked with multiple organisations over the years in the fields of management and finance. His hobbies include reading, listening to music and talking to people.
Satish ji moved to Suncity in 2004. He fondly speaks of the greenery and serenity here. He advocates cohesiveness and care in our community and strongly encourages greater communication between residents and neighbours.
Rajbala Foundation
After the death of his wife in 2009, Satish Ji and his family realised the need for increasing awareness about palliative care and propagating the use of alternative therapies that help to alleviate the emotional and physical pain of patients and their caregivers. Therefore, they launched Rajbala Foundation in 2010 in Delhi. Today the foundation comprises over 150 volunteers who are professionals from various backgrounds. They run multiple projects like Project Udaan – a mental health awareness initiative; Project Titli – an education initiative; Care for Elders campaign and more.
They also hold psychological welfare and counselling initiatives in the form of interesting workshops for students and faculty development progra-mmes at school, universities and educational organisations.
Pearls of Wisdom
Given Satish uncle’s profession, I sought to gain from him certain tips for living a happier and content life in today’s fast-paced world. He says, “Don’t try to control the uncontrollable”. We should not over emphasise on things beyond our control, instead making the best out of what we have. He encourages acceptance and self-love to live a peaceful life. “Happiness is a choice”, says Satish uncle as he reiterates that an absence of sadness does not equate to happiness, instead we should focus on finding our purpose and working for it. Most importantly, he tells us to smile more and spend more time with our loved ones.
Bonus: Here’s a book recommendation by Satish uncle – Man’s search for meaning by Victor Frankle.
