Every month we introduce you to a personality living in Suncity who should be known to all the residents.
This month I introduce to you Mrs Sudarshan Kapoor. She was born in Rawalpindi Pakistan and moved to Karol Bagh after the partition where she grew up. She did her BA in commerce and worked in the Central Bank of India for 40 years and then retired from there as a Senior Manager.
She shifted from West Delhi to Suncity 22 years ago. It would not be an exaggeration to say that she has seen Suncity grow and develop in front of her eyes. However, this is not the criteria to choose her as the personality of the month.
I find her a perfect example of a secular person. She belongs to a Punjabi Hindu family but if there’s any religious congregation, you’ll find her standing first and foremost. Be it the Sukhmani Sahib path group of which she was an initiator, the Amritvani group, Gurujis satsang or Brahmakumaris gathering she’s there always quietly arranging and managing everything. I shifted to Suncity and thankfully got in touch with her. She not only included me in the Sukhmani sahib group but also gradually nudged me into other activities as well. By the grace of God, we have Prabhat pheri before Guru Nanak Jayanti, we have celebrations of Guru Nanak Jayanti and Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti, and all these are celebrated with great pomp and show. Also keeping all the regulations of the religion and society in mind.
She is a strong support system for all the women of Suncity. We all believe that if Kapoor Aunty is there then she’ll manage all. Kudos to the zeal and enthusiasm that she brings to make any spiritual congregation a success.
About to turn 80 in a few months she is an example to follow and emulate to all the ladies of this colony.
