The elections for the new Ward Councilors are scheduled for the first fortnight of May 2023. Most of you are aware that the Gurugram Zone has been bifurcated into smaller and more compact Wards in January. The potential candidates, political peeping toms, are trying to seek windows of opportunity to meet residents and garner votes.
The previous Ward Councilor, Aarti Yadav did a commendable job. Unfortunately, we have never had a suitable candidate from our own Village backyard, aka Silokhera or Saini Khera. No one could get the residents’ trust or votes. As the Peeping Tom looking into Silokhera from my M Block terrace, I see something new and interesting this time around. The oncoming elections have thrown up someone who might fit the bill. Someone who has been trying to make his presence felt by assisting the new EC. He is Deepak Sharma. This perhaps again being a ‘female Councilor’ vacancy, his lady wife, Bhawna Sharma, will be the representative face fighting the elections. Looked poised, genteel and educated when I met her.
Two tiny points which I would like you to mull over are :- Bhawna and Deepak seem to have the backing of the ruling political dispensation MLA, and are also known faces of South City-I.
The bane of our society, is that the educated voters here, fail to exercise their franchise. I would urge all residents to go out and vote.
