Towards Environmental Stewardship
On 21 July, the PCPH AOA conducted a plantation drive to contribute to the ecosystem rehabilitation. Plantation drives have emerged as a strategy to combat environmental challenges, including deforestation and climate change.
This initiative reflects the AOA’s commitment to addressing environmental challenges through community participation. The drive was preceded by planning led by Manikesh Nath Tiwari, President. Native species were carefully selected considering ecological context of the area.
250 trees were planted including 100 Ashoka trees of 8-10 feet, 15 Bottle Palms of 12 feet, 30 Tabebuia Argentee of 5-7 feet and 100 Black Ficus. It is the divider of the internal cluster road to uplift the aesthetic beauty of the area.
AOA sponsored the funding for the plantation drive. The day of the drive, residents joined hands to plant the trees in the designated areas. Community involvement in planting activities fosters a sense of responsibility.
AOA sought to raise awareness about importance of green spaces. It has planned monitoring with FMG horticulture team to track the growth of the trees and ensure long-term survival. The plantation drive is a step towards environmental restoration.
As the trees grow, it will continue to benefit the community. Trees absorb carbon dioxide, thus helping to combat global warming. As we continue to face environmental issues, the importance of such drives will only grow, highlighting the need for action to preserving our planet for future generations.
