Haphazard parked vehicles encroaching road space leading to traffic snarls were earlier a major cause of congestion in Sector A, Pocket C where vehicles were also occupy spaces marked for pedestrians. This had in some cases led to differences between neighbours over parking in this Vasant Kunj Colony.
Not any more…Two months back, the ARWA Management Committee led by the President, Vinod Pant and Vice President, Prateek Pathak prepared a detailed parking plan to ensure that the parking space in the colony is used in a regulated space saving way by the residents and also to make sure that there is a clear space available for emergency vehicles and pedestrians.
The plan was implemented in Dec and has been a success. Lane marking method was adopted to demarcate parking areas. Identified parking areas for cars were earmarked and the required spaces between cars after measurement were demarcated with yellow paint.
According to Vinod Pant, this parking plan aims at utilizing optimum road space for the convenience of car users but at the same time giving priority to pedestrians, cyclists and emergency vehicles.
