The Sushant Lok parks are unkempt, we all knew but recently a problem arose which left us grumbling in surprise, as we call ourselves –civic society! Yash Sood (C-1844, 3rd Floor) had been complaining about the Mehndi Park gates not being opened for him to push his elderly father’s wheelchair through the gates, he requested in many ways possible to several people but received no reply. Some residents said that the park has a limited time and by the time, a little late in the night, he comes the gates are locked. He ran from post to pole but no one could provide any help. No concrete reply!
Yash ultimately wrote a complaint letter to the SLRWA, stating that he had already discussed the matter with Mr. Verma and Mr Pushkarna (C-1839) a lot of times but to no avail. The residents opined fiercely that all the parks remain open then why this particular one is under lock and key, others say there is no way a sick person should be denied entry to the park, people even objected to the SLRWA’s input on this but Yash says the keys are with two people who won’t allow him to take his father’s wheelchair in. It is surprising as we all know the parks are public property and in no way legally can be kept under lock and key.
Some say many parks face this issue in C block and it’s time some solid action should be taken against such practice.
MCG has started a new program –‘Meri Life, Mera Swatchh Sheher’ in which people are called for planting trees to save them! Hope the community enjoins and makes it a great event. Hope they don’t misconstrue that Mother Earth provides only for a selected few! Hope they awaken to the feeling of Solidarity, sharing and caring!
