The Story
It all started in 2018 when the residents of Lotus Panache came together to celebrate their second Durga Puja. The Anandroopa Cul-tural Trust (ACT) successfully tested its waters in 2017 and the members were more confident in creating a grand event again. Just sitting over tea, discussing plans for Durga Puja celebrations, Debanjali, a resident of Lotus Panache and member of ACT, suggested of a grand presentation to create an inclusive environment for both Bengali and Non-Bengali residents. The idea led to the inception of a grand ensemble put together by none other than the very talented ladies of Lotus Panache – Parikrama
Why Parikrama
Parikrama represents an auspicious circle of positive energies. Every year the ladies of Lotus Panache work on a theme and create a musical extravaganza for celebrating Durga Pooja.
In 2022, Parikrama returned after a break of two years. The pause due to COVID- 19 humbled us and at the same time made us realize the uncertainty of life. The one lesson we all learnt was to watch out for each other and celebrate the togetherness of living in a society. As a tribute to life, the theme for Parikrama – 2022 was Zindagi Ka Suhana Safar.
The ensemble was a cinematic reflection of celebrating life. Children, youth, young married ladies, senior citizens and the spirited women of today danced to a medley of songs from the era of Chitrahaar to the current OTTs leaving the audience mesmerized.
Parikrama – The Reception
We Indians connect to various events of our life through the beautiful songs of Indian Cinema. Be it the innocence of childhood, the spirit of youth, the soulful connection of marriage, the friendship of middle age or the depth in perspective of grandparents… the Parikrama team beautifully represented each emotion through their electrifying performances.
The surprise element was the dance by our Naanis and Daadis who set the stage on fire with their graceful moves on melodious songs. Each one of them received an encore from the audience giving all of us the inspiration to cherish and embrace every stage of life.
