Panchshila Park Special General Meeting (SGM) of the Society

The SGM was held in the Multi-Purpose Hall (MPH) on 31st March 2024. It was attended by appx 70 members, which is roughly one third of the total number.

The meeting was first called at 9:30 am and finally began at 10:15 am without waiting for the quorum, as it was legally permitted to do so. It ended a few minutes past 11:30 am.

The group observed a minute’s silence in the memory of 9 society members who had passed away since the AGM held on 24th September 2023.

For the uninitiated, 2 major meetings are held every year. There is the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held every September when the audited accounts are presented to the General Body. The SGM is typically held in March when the progress for the year ending is shared and revised estimates for the current year as well as budget for next year are presented and approved by the General Body.

The agenda of Vidya school was not taken up during the SGM since the RCS had passed an order prohibiting a discussion on the same during this meeting, on the basis of a letter filed by one of the Society members.

For 2023-24, there is an estimated surplus of appx. Rs. 83 lakhs from the club activities whilst the deficit in Society accounts is appx Rs. 67 lakhs which would be reduced to the extent of maintenance charges collected for 2023-24. The provisional estimated of 2023-24 and budget for 2024-25 were passed with 35 members present saying yes and 5 members opposing it.

A significant amount of activity has been initiated/completed during 2023-24. The MPH is being fitted with sliding doors and overhead covers to enable people to step out when needed. The kitchen currently adjoining the lawns is proposed to be shifted to the office area whilst the office is being shifted to area currently being occupied by the library. The ARB and the area above the library are being renovated to create one big party hall. The filtration plant next to the committee room is being shifted outside and the washroom next to the swimming pool has also undergone repairs. Finally, the Frangipani bar and its outside area is being prepared to accommodate larger numbers, but it has taken longer than usual.
