Over the past few weeks, there has been a steady and steep rise in the number of monkeys in K Block of DLF Phase 5. As they have been partying on everyone’s balcony and floors in their context, they are actually being destructive to everybody, uprooting plants, breaking water pipes, and damaging overhead tanks; moreover, they are getting ferocious and noisy day by day. Residents are continuously appealing for help to handle these dangerous and destructive monkeys. As only MCG has the authority to catch them, they seem to be least interested in answering the residents’ calls or taking any necessary action that is required in this situation with immediate effect.
A few preventive techniques that can be implemented include strictly stopping feeding the monkeys because when they do not get food, they enter the residential areas where they find an adequate supply, or hiring a langoor owner who keeps rotating in affected lanes, or hanging langoor cutouts on the boundary walls and the gates of the houses, whereas keeping realistic-looking fake snakes around to scare them has also come out to be a useful tip.
