My father-in-law’s attendant (Vikrant), with no driving experience, took our (i20 UP 16CL 1018) car without our permission and drove it to Nithari while we were away. His reckless driving resulted in a crash into a pavement, narrowly avoiding a group of children. He was handed over to the cops but to everyone’s surprise, he was released from the Nithari Police Station after a settlement made by his relatives. On his way back with the car he banged it again and damaged the parked scooters and flowerpots outside our house & our neighbour’s. A presswala nearby witnessed the entire incident and alerted us.“This shook our entire family and we learnt our lesson that we have to be cautious while hiring domestic help. Not only this, a background check and ongoing supervision are crucial steps to safeguard the well-being of family members and the security of the home.
House hold helps sneaking out with their employer’s car and trying their hand on driving is not new and we have in the past published many such incidents. We all have to ensure that these youngsters are forewarned not to touch the car and we as a precaution have to keep the keys out of their reach.
