Jan Jagran Sangathan is a known name in the field of waste management and holistic development of children by organizing various activities like regular yoga classes, art and craft competitions, after-school help and an overall spirit to enjoy festivals, all keeping in mind sustainable and eco-friendly practices.
One such wonderful event held in Sector-50 was the Rangoli competition using everyday items like dals, rice, leaves and flowers. In continuation, to appreciate the spirit of participation JJS decided to take the children for an excursion to Noida Haat and spend the day at Chokhi Dhani.
We gathered at the Haat and Madhu Mittal ji explained to the children about the importance of such bazaars – how it benefits both the artisans and the consumers. We took a round of the Haat, and took this opportunity to make the various shopkeepers and buyers aware of how they can use cloth bags instead of plastic and thereby contribute to the Swachh Survekshan.
Now comes the fun part, when we went to Choki Dhani which was the highlight of our trip. We were welcomed with Tilak and Dhol and the whole atmosphere quickly changed into fun and frolic. From welcome drink to puppet show to mehendi and dancing on traditional Rajasthani songs on stage, children had a great time. None of us realised how time passed so quickly. We wouldn’t have been able to pull off this event without the prompt and generous gesture of the Noida Haat management. They provided us with refreshments and packed snacks and were really very supportive throughout our day trip.
With such events, we wish to introduce our youth to the beauty of all that is handmade, keep them grounded and have fun in a more holistic manner. And in this journey, we are ever so grateful to each one of you, who support and encourage us in their own way.
