A hardcore environmentalist, a virtuoso pianist, a passionate tabla player, an avid golfer and a brilliant student – these are just some of the qualities that define the persona of our multifaceted star of this column – Raghav Aggarwal.
A resident of W Block GK-2, Raghav was moved by the ill effects of used plastic finding its way to the landfills and from there entering our food chain through stray animals that unwittinglydevour it. He chose not to remain a mute spectator to this catastrophe but instead took the initiative of joining hands with the Mumbai based Milk Bag Project, run in collaboration between Har Ghar Hara Ghar, Clean Mumbai Foundation and Garbage Free India. Under this program, Raghav started collecting used milk bags from areas in and around GK-2 to be sent thereafter to the local Recycling plants where the discarded plastic gets converted into products like furniture items, storage/trash bins, palettes and other articles of utility that are sold through tie ups with reputed commercial organizations.
Buoyed by his initial success, Raghav persuaded a few of his friends to join hands with him in his bid to broaden the area of his operation as well as to tie up with local milk vendors to scale up his activities. Not just this, Raghav is now moving on to focus on other forms of used plastic as well and to collaborate with Chintan Environmental Research and Action Group, in his endeavor to expand the scale of his task.
A final year student of Delhi Public School, RK Puram, Raghav is also a member of his school Economics Club through which he has participated in several inter/Intra School debates. He has learned instrumental music from Trinity College of London where he won several accolades for his sterling performances. His other areas of interest include technology using which Raghav is currently creating an App in the Healthcare domain. He wants to pursue a career in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science with specialization in Wealth Management. We extend our good wishes to Raghav Aggarwal for all his future endeavors.
