Imperial Court Residents celebrated Independence Day with a difference. Our future, our children took the lead to not only participate and hoist the flag but also to report the celebrations for Samvada.
Independence Day Celebration
Abeer Chaudhary (8 years)
Everyone had a lot of fun on the 76th Independence Day. We had three main events in Imperial Court. We started with an Art Competition in the T2 Lobby. Then, we, the children of Imperial, together hoisted our National Flag and later, in the evening, we had a kite – flying competition. There were so many colourful kites in the sky.
People also released lighted lanterns in the sky. The air was filled with music. Everyone was excited and happy. We really enjoyed.
Experience at the Art Competition
Rehaan Mathur (8 years)
The art competition was a lot of fun. My friends & I were very excited to create artwork on our own. For me, Independence Day represents all the national symbols of India. I was proud to draw the India Gate, Yamuna River, Tiger, lotus flower and the peacock all in one picture.
I made fighter planes that had saffron, green and white colours, like a rocket with fire coming out. I enjoyed the entire experience and will participate again the next year!
A Busy Independence Day
Riddhi Nair (8 years)
August 15th was a very busy Independence Day, packed with activities all day. I got up early and got dressed in tricolour clothes, participated in the art competition and enjoyed the most wonderful moment of hoisting the national flag.We stood still for the National Anthem and the Guard of Honour.
Thereafter, we enjoyed delicious snacks. The blazing heat did not deter us or the elders from enjoying the special day. In the evening, with everyone, I too flew my purple kites. Like every year, sweets were distributed to the Guards & the staff by the residents. I too shared the delicious Kheer made by my Grandpa with them.
That was the end of a wonderful eventful day.
