There is an exotic new visitor at Hamlet – a Monitor Lizard! There have been many sightings in the past month – a few in the amphitheatre, some at Janpath and often in the gardens from T14 to T10. Though the animal is not poisonous and is a harmless one, its apex predator looks are causing fear amongst many. In reality, a monitor is good news because it will control the rodent and snake population most effectively. This fellow is probably displaced from the Maharishi Ashram and should find its way back soon. Wildlife SOS & Forest Department have also been contacted. Till it finds permanent dwellings, let’s be civil and polite; it means no harm.
