Every year, the spirit of Onam fills the Imperial Court community with joy, whether celebrated at the community level or more intimately within homes. This year, the ‘Imperial Court Ladies Club’ took charge, ensuring that the spirit of Onam was marked with grandeur and camaraderie.
The celebration saw all the women of the community dressed in the traditional white and gold attire, a beautiful sight, that paid homage to the festival’s heritage. As they arrived, the ambience greeted them with elaborate floral decorations, setting the perfect festive tone.
Upon entering, each woman was adorned with a flower garland, symbolizing beauty and the spirit of the occasion. The event kicked off with a lively photo session, capturing the stunning traditional attire and festive smiles.
This was followed by games. The participants settled in with their pre-decided teams to engage in a fun-filled session of dumb charades, along with an exciting Onam Quiz. The enthusiasm was palpable, as everyone dived into the games, showcasing their competitive spirit while also enjoying the cultural significance of the festival.
In a special highlight, the team that won the games treated everyone to a graceful Onam dance performance, followed by a more energetic Bollywood-style dance to the tune of Chammak Challo, merging tradition with contemporary celebration.
No Onam celebration is complete without the traditional Onam Sadhya, and this event was no exception. The day concluded with the much-anticipated prize distribution, bringing smiles to the faces of all the participants.
This year’s Onam celebration at Imperial Court was a true reflection of unity, joy, and cultural pride, bringing the community together in a way only a festival like Onam can!
