On the morning of 3rd January, in the MPH of Panchshila Club, barriers were broken and stereotypes were challenged as PLWA organised an extraordinary event called “Not so thin, but no less sexy”. PLWA, known for empowering women and fostering community health and Balwadi education embarked on a journey into the vibrant world of fashion guided by our very own visionary designers Archana Capoor and Meenu Passi. The MPH had seating on both the sides as our very own members who modelled took the ramp by storm in the beautiful ensembles by the two designers. Archan’s tagline,” What you are touching with your hand, preserve it as a piece of history” encapsulates her dedication to preserving cultural heritage and creating a lasting legacy through her distinctive creations. The models showcased handloom sarees, odnis, dupattas and batuas made by the talented weavers of Mubarakpur. Archana has personally invested in training the weavers and ensuring their advanced weaving skills. Each ensemble was not only a garment worn by a model but it told a story of dedication, perseverance and the passion for preserving the art of weaving. The awe inspiring color combination and the richness in style and design were evident as the models flowed in the ensembles like music.
Meenu Passi’s design philosophy reflected practicality, intelligence, and timeless elegance. Her creations, blending contemporary and traditional elements, showcased a unique fusion of style and functionality. Each garment, a testament to her artistic brilliance, stood out as a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. The show was opened by our very own PLWA President Suman Chopra in a unique musical modelling style followed by models from PLWA showcasing the two designers’ unique outfits be it a saree, jacket, dupatta or Anarkali, each embodying a unique charm and personality. Even though all the models were amateurs, Suman Chopra trained them expertly that surpassed fashion, embracing individuality, diversity, and the timeless allure of style. ‘Not so thin but no less sexy’ was not just a fashion event; it was a movement, encouraging us to walk confidently, draped in the elegance of our individuality. The event was appreciated and thoroughly by everyone present.
Stay stylish, stay true to yourself, and here’s to a future filled with more celebrations of beauty in all its diverse forms. Happy New Year!!
